Undoubtedly it is critical to ensure that you follow a rational and sequential process when packing in preparation for a move.
Start By Packing Rooms That Are Least Used
You should start packing unoccupied rooms or those that are least used. Can you imagine a scenario where you pack your bedroom first? How would you get to your bed with lots of piles of boxes and items to be moved? It would be messy and the move would prove to be stressful.
Consider The Hardest To Pack Rooms
This will ensure that before your energy and enthusiasm for the move are sapped you will have done most of the packing task. As a rule of thumb, the storage areas should be given priority during the packing process. i.e they should be sorted and packed first.
Factor In The Basement
The basement is usually mostly used as storage areas and may contain a lot of junk items. You should always know that anything you choose to move will cost you money. Some items in the basement may also be hazardous so you should be wary so that they do not hurt you.
Empty The Closets
You should sort and pack the items in the closets early. This ensures that you will save on time during the actual move.
These in most cases contain fewer items hence do not take a lot of time to sort.
The Kitchen is time-consuming to sort and pack. Do not wait until the moving day to sort and pack the Kitchen. This is because it contains things like utensils, cutlery, and items under the sink among others that may take hours to pack.
Deciding to pack the living room last is sensible. This is major because it is the room where family members meet and talk and have fun together. The children also play and move in the sitting room hence it would be risky for them to jump over
packed items such as couches, TVs, or computers.
If your kid is old enough let them help you in sorting and packing their items such as books, furniture, clothes, and shoes among other items. This will also be particularly helpful during the unpacking process as they will be able to identify all there items and can also be able to notice misplaced or missing items.
Your bedroom should be the last to pack besides the bathroom. This is because you will need a lot of mental energy and rest to be able to plan and execute a successful packing and moving.
You need to have a shower every single day including the moving day. This means packing your bathroom items should come last.
